What’s that, you say?
Another freaking Dungeons & Dragons-themed post? Oh, sorry – duh – PATHFINDER themed?
Why? Why do you hate your audience so much, Josie? Jeez…
Look guys, I don’t hate you. I just have so little outside of gaming that is interesting to think about (and write about) on this little personal blog that sometimes it seems overwhelmingly…overwhelming. But if you think that just from reading these posts, imagine how *I* must feel! I live this shit every day!
Anyway – oddly enough, I recently wrote about post about getting back into the swing with Serpent’s Skull posts. I was having such fun DM’ing the mod and my friends and just… YAY. But somehow when I was prepping for today’s session I felt very blah about it all. And then frustrated. A little depressed. A bit angry.
And if gaming isn’t fun – then it isn’t worth the time.
So since I was definitely NOT having fun with it – and since Paul has been chomping at the bit to run a game for ages now – I stepped back for awhile, putting The Serpent’s Skull on hiatus for a few weeks at least.
Which means we’re free to make up 1st level characters and move about the cabin.
Yesterday (Friday) we got off work in the early am, then ran some errands (Mark’s new specs are pretty sweet) and came home to get our PCs prepared for tomorrow. Paul came over to give some guidance (and – he hoped – to roleplay but Mark is agonizing – AS ALWAYS – about what to play so we didn’t get that far).
Then Abbie came over after dinner with her mom around 7 and hung out until a bit after 9.
She and I both have our characters ready to go.
I’m playing a dude called Lorenzo Lafontainbleu, a lesser noble looking for fun, fortune, and fuckery in the Shackles (specifically – some treasure his great-grandfather was never able to recover in his adventuring youth).
Abbie is playing a dude, Lorenzo’s childhood buddy, as well. Rhedd is a half-orc brawler and is the muscle of this little group. Being level one really sped up character creation (plus, she’s getting to be an old-hand at this stuff after two years at our table).
In a strange twist of gaming fate – both our male players (Mark & Mike) will be playing female PCs.
Double-crossplay. How liberated of us. Hehe.
I’m going to get to writing about Lorenzo and Rhedd and Sophie/Maeve/Yvonne/Whatever pretty shortly. Should be interesting – these guys are scoundrels and scallywags and SO vastly different from Rhiallis, the goody-two-shoes selfless paladin.
She’s up there in the Worldwound, sacrificing everything day in and day out to save the world from demon infestation… and Lorenzo and his crew are… looking for booty (both ways, tyvm!).
Can’t wait to post more about this!
See ya on the flipside!
